Recipe taken from What We Love Most
7 Tablespoons Butter
3/4 Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
3/4 Cups Sugar
1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
3 Organic Eggs
1/2 Cup Organic All Purpose Flour
2 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder
1/4 Cup Chocolate Chips (Folded in the batter last)
1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1 teaspoon Coffee Beans, fresh ground
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
-Preheat Oven to 350 degrees
-Melt butter and chocolate together with a microwave or stove top
-Stir in maple syrup and add eggs one at a time
-In bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, coffee, and pepper. Whisk or sift ingredients
-Fold batter into dry ingredients
-Add chocolate chips into mixture and pour into brownie pan
-Bake for 30 minutes
“Self,” I thought to myself, “regular brownies are just far to simple to bother with. Let’s try something new and different! They’re still just brownies though, impossible to really mess that up!” Wrong! You might notice on the edges of the picture of the brownies, that the pan I used was made of glass. As it turns out this was important!
By forgetting to crop the cook time when cooking with a glass pan, I managed to render these delicious and rich brownies into a flavorless loaf of brown colored bread. There were vague hints of coffee and a whisper of the deliciousness this dessert could have had, if I had used a little foresight, but sadly the brownies were almost inedible. A waste of good chocolate.
Lesson learned, I will try these again sometime in the near future, and give a real accounting of how the recipe tastes.
