While we’re at it, let’s muse a bit on the two film adaptations of Tinker, Tailor: The 1979 BBC mini-series and the 2011 theatrical release.
Since I’ll be covering a fair number of spoilers, we’ll put the rest below the cut.
Is it strange that the British say Bowie like a respectful bow, while Americans say it like a bow tie. Unless you’re from Maryland or Texas, where you go nuts and say Boo-ie.
Lucero just did a cover of Bowie’s Modern Love for AV Club’s awesome AV Undercover. I wouldn’t say it’s awesome, but it’s passable, and always nice to see people appreciate the less well known Bowie works.

Neuromancer is William Gibson‘s first novel and the foundation for much of the cyberpunk sci-fi genre.

It’s a testament to the filmmakers and crew that a movie about a man building a storm shelter could be so incredibly beautiful, terrifying and compelling. It’s a story that’s intensely personal and apocalyptic at once, and the only thing I can think to criticize is its use of children as props rather than as characters.
